SKATE INSTRUCTORS

Richard Mulder | Director of Skateboard Programs | Carr Intermediate School

Richard has been skateboarding for 20 years. A native Californian, Richard sees his time spent volunteering with the OCYC Skateboarding programs as a way of giving back to the community.

“Working with these kids is priceless. There is no greater reward than knowing at the end of the day I lived for something greater than this life. This is more than teaching skateboarding or even just teaching about faith, hope, and love. These kids need to see it in actions. Words are cheap nowadays. Actions speak louder than words. This is about building relationships with your community reproducing yourself- believing that the principles you share also become their experiential knowledge… not just an intellectual apprehension.”   – Richard

Richard currently lives in Newport Beach, CA. To learn more about Richard, please visit his daily blog or can be contacted at richard@skateocyc.org

Aaron Morgan | Skateboard Instructor

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Aaron has been skating for 15 years now and don’t ever plan on stopping. A street skater primarily, but will rip ramps and bowls. Aaron moved to California in 2000 to pursue pro skateboarding. The route he ended up taking made more sense, which was working with kids at the Visalia YMCA Skate Camp. After helping run that facility for 10 years, Aaron also decided to partner with YMCA Camp Director Mike Manidis to start a Skateboarding Instructional Programs called “The Proper Technique”. With the Proper Technique, Aaron is currently running in Whittier, La Habra, and at the Krew Warehouse in Santa Ana. Apart from being a natural on the skateboard, Aaron’s faith has moved him with deep conviction to reach out to his generation with the skateboarding platform he his been given. Being a Skateboarding Instructor at the OCYC has uniquely enabled Aaron to serve both passions simultaneously. Aaron currently lives in Long Beach, CA.
